Players Handbook The information on this page includes speculation of what will be included in NWN2. It derives from Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 rules from the SRD or other sources, but Obsidian may change the actual implementation in the game.

Obsidian has not stated if tumble will appear in NWN2, though it was a popular skill choice in the original NWN.

DnD 3.5 Tumble

You can dive, roll, somersault, flip, and so on. You can't use this skill if your speed has been reduced by armor or excess inventory.

Modifying ability: Dexterity

Armor check penalty applied

Classes: Bard, Monk, Rogue, Arcane Trickster, Shadowdancer, Assassin, Harper Agent, Duelist, Sacred Fist

Requires training: No

Check: Tumbling past opponents without prompting an attack of opportunity is a DC of 15. Tumbling through a space occupied by your opponent is a DC of 25.

Special:

  • If you have 5 or more ranks in Tumble, you gain a +3 dodge bonus to AC when fighting defensively instead of the usual +2 dodge bonus to AC.
  • If you have 5 or more ranks in Tumble, you gain a +6 dodge bonus to AC when executing the total defense standard action instead of the usual +4 dodge bonus to AC.
  • If you have the Acrobatic feat, you get a +2 bonus on Tumble checks.
  • If you have 5 or more ranks in Tumble, you get a +2 bonus on Balance and Jump checks.
  • If you have 5 or more ranks in Jump, you get a +2 bonus on Tumble checks.

Use: You can land softly when you fall or tumble past opponents. You can also tumble to entertain an audience (as though using the Perform skill). Tumble is a part of your move action.

Prerelease notes

  • If NWN2 included tumble, it will likely be an automatic test due to the real time environment.

NWN Comparison

  • Tumble in NWN1, provided a +1 AC bonus for every 5 base ranks.
  • Only a DC15 check was required in NWN1 to avoid attacks of opportunity from moving.
  • NNW1 did not apply any restriction on usage related to armour or movement penalties.
