[edit] NWNWiki2 Rule Set
I am not happy with the name chosen for the NWNWiki Rule Set on NWNwiki.org. I could easily see it being called by several aliases, "Wiki Rules", "NRS", etc. Please submit your proposals for the NWN2 version.
Perhaps it would help if I describe my vision for what these rules are. What follows really should be on that new page itself, except that it hasn't been created yet, because the name of the article is the name of the page. For now, let's just use the NWNWiki2 Rule Set (N2RS) as a working title, until we decide upon the real name. Perhaps I really should start an article under this name, and then migrate it all to the final chosen holy name.
The objective of N2RS is to become a standard resource for scripting, similar to how the CEP became the standard for the Custom Content of graphics, placeables, and sounds; similar to how the CTP is becoming(?) the standard for custom tilesets.
There are many custom rule sets out there, all competing with each other. It is my vision to create a publicly accessible, open source, generic rule set that can be modified by the public quickly. I believe NWN2Wiki hosts just such a environment run by capable sysops and visited by intelligent scripters. Please add objectives as well as your name ideas. Where should I take my vision?
- Well now. What's wrong with [[Klingon Mage Ruleset]]? LOL! Seriously: I like "Ruleset eXtreme" which of course gives us "Rx" as an abbreviation. And no, I am not a pharmacist. Nor do I play one on TV. Klingon mage 19:27, 19 December 2005 (PST)
- Actually, NOTHING is wrong with an individual build here on NWN2Wiki being called that. (uh oh) The neat thing about the Wiki concept is that, I hope, we will have several competing builds at the same time. Whose architecture will be the final winner that everyone uses? I don't know! Eventually the public decides, more effort goes into one toolset or another and one comes out on top. But the great thing about being on a Wiki is that each Build (release of separate code) is open source and each group of coders can mix and match what they like from other Builds. Personally, I like the name "Wiki Rules". In one short phrase, it also tells players where to go when they find out about it on the BioBoards. Remember how hard it was to find that *other* rule set? Neises dot what? When players get here they click on our WR logo and go right to the starting gate: Download Builds, FAQs, Contribute, etc. // Brick Thrower 21:23, 19 December 2005 (PST)
