Three levels of this along with Heavy Armor proficiency effectively adds +8 armor for 7 feats (or 4+ a level of in a class with Heavy Armor Proficiency) (Still spell, 3 Prof feats, 3 Auto Still spell) by wearing plate.

The value of this is to be compared to taking 10 levels of Duelist which requires 3 feats (all of which are at least moderately useful in their own right) but drops caster level by 10 (6 with Practiced spell caster, another feat).

Of course the Automatic Still Spell Method also helps with status effects such as Paralysis or Hold as you can continue casting while under those effects while taking duelist levels does not provide such a benefit either. -- Andarious Rosethorn 06/12/08
