Mithral

From NWN2Wiki

Mithral is a rare silvery, glistening metal that is lighter than iron but just as hard. When worked like steel, it becomes a wonderful material from which to create armor and is occasionally used for other items as well. Items made from mithral have the following properties:

  • Heavy armors are treated as medium armor.
  • Medium armors are treated as light armor.
  • Light armors are still treated as light armor.
  • Armors weigh approximately half as much. This weight reduction does not count as an item propery, but is a change to the base item.
  • Shields weigh 60% as much as normal. This weight reduction counts as an item property.
  • Spell failure chances for armors are decreased by 10%. This decrease does not count as an item property, but is a change to the base item.
  • Spell failure chances for shields are decreased by 20% (to a minimum of 0%). This decrease counts as an item property.
  • Maximum dexterity bonus for all armors is increased by 2.
  • Armor check penalties for mithral armor are lessened by 3 (to a minimum of 0). This does not apply to shields.
  • Weapons made from mithral weigh 60% as much as normal. This weight reduction counts as an item property, and does not change a weapon's size category or the ease with which it can be wielded.

[edit] Notes

Weight reductions that count as an item property count against the 'three enchantments per item' limit that NWN2's default crafting system employs. Weight reductions that are a change to the base item do not.

Crafting either a weapon or an armor out of mithral adds 10 to its difficulty class.
