[edit] Distilled Essences

Essences are indispensable in crafting magical items, these elemental essences provide some of the magical power to hold an enchantment within an item. Usually they are prepared from monster body parts that have been looted from corpses after a battle. These raw ingredients are of the type eye of newt and wing of bat. Further refining is needed before the distilled essence may be used for crafting.

Originally compiled by ImmortalPob in a post on the official NWN2 forums. Combining/splitting rank information is from a Google spreadsheet [1] by Matt.r.marshall.

This is a list of what items may be distilled with Craft alchemy into various essences.

[edit] Alchemy Rank Requirements

• Faint = 4 ranks
• Weak = 6 ranks
• Glowing = 8 ranks
• Shadow Reaver Bones (8 ranks) also gives a random glowing or radiant elemental essence.
• Radiant = 10 ranks
• Fairy Dust also gives a random elemental essence of any rank.

[edit] Conversions

You can combine/split essences per the following equations at the specified skill ranks

• 2 Faint < = > 1 Weak at rank 5
• 2 Weak < = > 1 Glowing at rank 10
• 2 Glowing < = > 1 Radiant at rank 15

[edit] Combining Elemental Essences

To combine two essences into a higher rank essence, place both essences of the same strength on an Alchemist's Workbench, activate the Mortar and Pestle:Use Item property and use it on the workbench. There should be a message in the text window that crafting has been successful and now there will be a single higher rank essence in the bench.

[edit] Splitting Elemental Essences

To split an essence, use the Mortar and Pestle on an essence within your inventory window. A single essence will be split into ONE lower rank essence.
