Clothing generally refers either magical or non-magical forms of clothing which do not confer a armor bonus (unless it's an enchantment) but are still worn in the same armor slot.
High-Dexterity based characters will prefer magical clothing over light armor as this maximises their dexterity-modifer for AC. Arcane spellcasters are free from any risk of spell failure in clothing.
